BYRON CENTER, Mich. (WZZM) - Sam and Jennifer Stover didn't make it to the hospital in time to have their baby there on Wednesday. In fact, they didn't even make it to the car.

"Sometimes things are out of your own control," Sam Stover said of helping his wife deliver a daughter, their third child, on the front lawn. "The 911 responder was very helpful."

AMR dispatcher Jennifer Gort said she had simple instructions for the Stovers.

"It was basically, 'Get the towels, get mom ready.'"

Sam admitted blood makes him a little queasy, but he had a neighbor helping, too.

After having Sam ask his wife if she needed to push, Gort said she could hear over the phone that the baby was coming. "When she did push, (then came) the sounds of screaming (and) the baby crying, which is a very big relief."

Sam said, "We wrapped the baby up right away and tied off the umbilical cord."
