1. Barbara Walters bids 'View' fans adieu

On Friday, The View is going to be full of stars as illustrious icons ranging from Oprah Winfrey and Michael Douglas to former secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to say good-bye to news legend Barbara Walters. Walters is leaving The View, ending a five-decade career on television, although she will work behind-the-scenes as executive producer on the talk show she created 17 years ago, and will appear in the occasional story or interview for ABC News. The tribute airs Friday on ABC at 11 a.m. ET.

2. India counts ballots in the world's biggest election

Indian opposition leader Narendra Modi appeared headed for a landslide win Friday as results began pouring in from the country's weekslong general election, with his party easily driving out the long-dominant Congress party in the world's biggest democracy.

3. Eric Holder to address NAACP ahead of Brown v. Board of Education anniversary

Attorney General Eric Holder speaks at an NAACP luncheon today to mark the 60th anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling Brown v. Board of Education, which ended separate public schools for white and black students. The rise of charter schools has caused education researchers to give single-race classrooms a fresh look as they have become alarmed by what they see as a second segregated public school system piling atop the first.

4. Commuters gear up for Bike to Work Day

Across the nation, workers will hop on their bicycles for Bike to Work Day. Of the 51 largest U.S. cities, 43 held Bike to Work Day events in 2010, according to the League of American Bicyclists. The number of people who commute to work by bicycle increased about 60% over the past decade, although bicyclists still account for fewer than 1% of all commuters.

5. Weather forecast for Friday

Expect heavy rain in the Mid-Atlantic and all day showers in the Northeast. Morning showers in the Midwest are expected to bring in much cooler temperatures.
