Therrell High School in southwest Atlanta was placed on lockdown Thursday after two teenagers were shot near campus. / 11Alive News

ATLANTA - A high school was placed on lockdown Thursday after two teenagers were shot near campus.

The lockdown was ordered because of a robbery and police chase near Therrell High School in southwest Atlanta, according to an Atlanta Public Schools spokesperson. A preliminary police report said the teens tried to rob a house and the homeowner shot them.

One of the teens was struck in the arm, while the other was hit in the leg. Atlanta Police spokesman Greg Lyon said the teens drove themselves to a fire station i to get help. No names have been released.

Three people remain hospitalized after an unrelated shooting near the school earlier this week. Marcellus Brooks, a 17-year-old Therrell High sophomore, was arrested and charged with shooting five people. Prosecutors say he will be tried as an adult.
