President Obama heads west on Wednesday for a three-day California trip devoted largely to campaign fundraising.

Obama will raise money for the Democratic National Committee and the party's House and Senate campaign committees during stops in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose.

Democrats plan to use most of the money to try and hold control of the Senate after the November elections.

There are also a few non-campaign events as well.

On Wednesday, the first day of the trip, Obama will be the guest of honor at a dinner hosted by the University of Southern California's Shoah Foundation.

The president will also hold an energy event in San Jose on Friday before returning to Washington, according to the schedule.
