John Podesta / Eric Jamison, AP

One of President Obama's top aides has some advice for him.

Skip the treadmill and jog in the open air.

John Podesta, tapped last year to be a counselor to the president, told Runner's World magazine that Obama "overrule the Secret Service and find a place to run outside."

An avid runner himself, Podesta has a specific place in mind.

"Fort McNair -- where the Potomac and Anacostia rivers meet, and where I know he's played some basketball -- might be a good choice," Podesta said.
