Another lovely spring day is on tap for almost the entire nation, with only one trouble spot in the Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes region.

West: Warm to hot temperatures and clear skies will be the rule for the entire western half of the country. While temperatures will be in the 80s and 90s in the Southwest, the Northwest and Rockies will stay in the pleasant 60s and 70s.

Midwest: A fairly quiet cold front will trigger some light rain showers Thursday in the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes.

East Coast: Sunny skies and mild to warm temperatures will make for a lovely day throughout the Eastern Seaboard.

Weather history for April 10: In 1935, severe dust storms turned day to night in Kansas, Iowa and Oklahoma. In 1979, a tornado outbreak in Wichita Falls, Texas, killed 56 people, many while in their cars.

In 1991, Burns, Ore., dropped to a record low of 14 degrees. In 1996, a spring snowstorm dumped more than a foot of snow on parts of the Northeast.
