Congressional politics and the national pastime dot President Obama's schedule on Tuesday.

In the late morning, Obama welcomes the World Series champion Boston Red Sox to the White House, hailing the opening of the new baseball season.

"This visit will continue the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to their communities," says the White House.

The president then has lunch with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Possible topics range from an immigration bill to the proposed minimum wage hike to the November congressional elections.

Later on Tuesday, Obama and Vice President Biden meet with Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker.
