Vice President Biden / Jim Cole, AP

Joe Biden has a newly discovered part of the solar system nicknamed for him.

The planet-like object on the far reaches of the solar system is officially named "2012 VP-113," but astronomers like to call it "Biden."

Scientists hope that "Biden" can provide new clues about how the solar system was formed.

The Washington Post notes that "the name is more coincidence than anything and may be changed to something more official and mythological soon. But for now, Smiling Joe has his own celestial body."
