President Obama / Manuel Balce Ceneta, AP

Aretha Franklin still "respects" President Obama, even if he did fumble the spelling of her most famous song last week.

Days after Obama dropped a first vowel from the refrain of Franklin's 1967 anthem -- "R-S-P-E-C-T" -- the Queen of Soul said in a statement Monday: "I'm sure the President had much on his agenda and was just a little tired."

Franklin, 71, performed Thursday night at a White House "Women of Soul" concert that also included Patti LaBelle, Melissa Etheridge, Janelle Monae, Ariana Grande and Jill Scott.

Franklin's statement also said: "The President and I are mutual when it comes to R-E-S-P-E-C-T."
