President Obama and Mahmoud Abbas / Carolyn Kaster, AP

President Obama continues his personal Middle East diplomacy when he meets with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at the White House on March 17.

Obama, who met with Jordan's King Abdullah II on Feb. 14, talks Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, also at the White House.

At the end of March, Obama travels to Saudi Arabia to speak with King Abdullah.

The Abbas meeting on March 17 will focus on "the progress in the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.

"They will also discuss our continuing effort to work cooperatively to strengthen the institutions that can support the establishment of a Palestinian state," Carney said.
