Teen killed after prank / USA

An Arkansas father remained in jail Monday accused of murder for the weekend shooting death of a 15-year-old girl after a retaliatory prank against the man's son.

Little Rock police said 48-year-old Willie Noble came out his house about 1 a.m. Saturday and fired into a Hyundai Sonata packed with seven teenagers after they had dumped eggs and leaves on his son's car. The mischief, which followed a night at the movies, was payback for an unspecified Halloween prank Noble's son had played on the teens, KTHV-TV reported.

Adrian Broadway, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was struck in the head and died at Arkansas Children's Hospital. The 18-year-old driver, who suffered minor cuts from broken glass, managed to drive to a nearby Kum & Go convenience to summon help. The four other teens in the car, ages 14 to 17, were not hurt.

Noble was booked for first-degree murder, five counts of aggravated assault and one count of terroristic threats.

A candlelight vigil for Adrian was held Sunday night.

"It was a joke. We was friends, we was gonna come over there and clean it up," said 16-year-old Kortazha Williams, who cradled Adrian after she was shot. "She didn't have to go this way; she wasn't supposed to go."

Another friend, Derricka Garrett, described Adrian as "an outgoing person; she was goofy; she loved to play around; she loved to laugh and just be herself."

The community is divided over who was to blame for the tragedy. Some hold Noble responsible, while others point the finger at parents who let their children be out so late.
