TNT's coverage of the NBA All-Star Game will include an especially prominent basketball fan: President Obama.

Obama sat down Thursday with TNT broadcaster Charles Barkley -- a former NBA All-Star himself -- for an interview to air during coverage of the game to be played Sunday in New Orleans.

Among the topics, according to excerpts: Obama's suggestion that current superstar LeBron James could wind up as good a player as the legendary Michael Jordan.

"Now, I'm a Chicago guy and Mike will always be the guy, for me, just because that was a magical moment for the city, and he was a champion," Obama said. "Mike is now retired. LeBron, when you look at him, you think he might be able to play at a high level for another seven, eight, 10 years. He's 29 years old. In terms of every aspect of the game, LeBron has a chance to be as good as anybody."

Obama also said of James: "I've never seen somebody that size, that fast, who can jump that high, who is that strong, who has that much basketball savvy all in one package."

In addition to hoops, Obama and Barkley also discussed items ranging from health care to the administration's new "My Brother's Keeper" initiative for minority men, according to a release fron the NBA.

In a brief video clip, Obama plugs both the NBA All-Star Game and the network televising it.

"It's going to be a great weekend," Obama says. "And I'll be watching! On TNT!"
