Seth MacFarlane earned some praise but more scorn for his first Oscars hosting gig Sunday, though ratings for the show were up.
Would he do it again if asked?
"No way," he tweeted to a fan. "Lotta fun to have done it, though."
MacFarlane predicted in an interview with USA TODAY before the Oscars that it would be a one-off hosting gig because of his schedule with shows such as American Dad, Family Guy and the sequel to his hit movie Ted.
"I will have put five months of work" into the Oscars, he said. "It's been a monster of a schedule with everything else I have to deal with. Which is why I don't think I can do it again. I think it's a one-time thing. But it's been a lot of fun.'
The Oscars drew 40.4 million viewers, its biggest total since 2010, and part of the credit goes to a big increase in young men who are fans of MacFarlane's Family Guy and Ted but who are also least likely to watch film's top awards show.
Guess it's back to the drawing board for the academy and ABC. Though some fans have been lobbying for this year's Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to get a turn.
