President Obama and Beyonce on Monday / Evan Vucci, AP

The White House wants no part of the Beyonce story.

Spokesman Jay Carney declined to comment on reports that Beyonce may have lip-synced a recording of The Star Spangled Banner during Monday's inauguration, referring questions to congressional officials who organized the event.

Carney told reporters at the White House briefing that he has "no idea" whether pop star sang the song or not, and, "I really don't think it's an important issue to address from the podium here."

Pressed on the issue by reporters, Carney told the gaggle: "I'm glad you guys are focused on the important issues of the day."
