It was a good 49th birthday for first lady Michelle Obama, ending with dinner in Georgetown.

The first lady, President Obama, and friends celebrated at Cafe Milano for a little more than three hours.

The White House did not provide details.

Mrs. Obama's birthday also featured a new hairstyle and a new Twitter handle: FLOTUS, which of course stands for First Lady of the United States.

Her old Twitter name -- "Michelle Obama" -- was a campaign account and is now managed by the Democratic National Committee.

FLOTUS was created by the first lady's office, and will chronicle some of her activities; Mrs. Obama will sign her own tweets with the initials "mo."
