For some, it's a coffee-fueled chance for a lengthy catch-up with friends.

For others, it's an excuse to day-drink unlimited mimosas while consuming a pre-noon "breakfast burger" (a regular burger with an egg on top) with "breakfast fries" (just fries).

And for many, the breakfast-lunch-often-day-long hybrid meal known as brunch is, as many great portmanteaus tend to be, both.

San Francisco-based online magazine The Bold Italic has visualized, as illustrator Michelle Rial, puts it, "the phenomenon of brunch, in graphs." It's part of their made-up charts weekly series.
