Maybe they should search for him in Brooklyn â?¦
New York City police are searching for a "dorky hipster" bandit who wears mod glasses and a straw fedora while stealing from ATMs in Manhattan, according to local media reports.
The man, sporting a beard, black-framed Warby Parker-like glasses and slim-fit jeans, stole about $1,000 from victims' accounts using their banking information, police say. The thefts ranged from trendy Tribeca to Greenwich Village to the tony Upper West Side.
"He looks like a dorky hipster," one police source told DNAinfo.com. "I wouldn't be surprised if the beard was fake and the glasses are fake. Maybe, maybe not."
The man was able to get his victims' PINs and then access their accounts using a fake ATM card, according to an NYPD spokesman quoted by the New York Post.
The suspect appears to be between 25 and 30 years old and 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a slim build.
According to DNAinfo.com, investigators believe that the suspect - who was caught on video surveillance - used data from skimming devices to duplicate bank cards.
