Contributor Steve Stotter was kayaking in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, near the Hoover dam, when he captured this moment. "What stands out in my mind is how wonderful the contrast of colors were," he said. "The clear green waters, the bright blue sky, and the variety of colors upon the canyon walls."
During a visit to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mark Dorion came upon John Oliver Cabin. "One can't help but appreciate the solitude his family must have experienced living there," Dorion said.
"What I remember most about it is feeling in awe," Bill Zhang said of the Seven Star Cave in Guilin, China. "It was hard to believe that just water flowing over many years had created those shapes."
While driving over the causeway from Sanibel Island to Fort Myers, Fla., Michelle Stelter saw large clouds approaching. "I just remember thinking how big the clouds were above us and whether it would rain later in the day," she said.
Herb Kennedy couldn't resist snapping this smoky sunset in White City, Ore., saying, "I have a Bottle Tree in my backyard facing West and I saw the sun setting perfectly."
