FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina sheriff says three people have been killed and three deputies injured in a shootout at a mobile home park outside Fayetteville.
Cumberland County Sheriff Moose Butler told local media outlets Wednesday morning that deputies were called to a domestic dispute about 7 a.m. Wednesday. At the residence, gunfire was exchanged with one person, who was among the three killed.
Deputies did not immediately say whether the people died in the domestic dispute or in the shootout.
The names of those involved have not been released.
Butler says two of the injured deputies were taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds. The third was treated for a minor injury.
It was unclear whether anyone was in custody. A spokeswoman for the sheriff's department did not immediately respond to messages.
