Breaking News / Tory Hargro, USA TODAY

A shooting victim was at large Tuesday night after an altercation at a high-end Las Vegas mall sent him scrambling down an escalator and down the street, police said.

Police have stopped two people in a car and believe they might be the suspects, but they are not yet sure, police Lt./Watch Commander Mark Reddon said. Witnesses said they believed the suspects fled in a blue car, Reddon said.

The scuffle started Tuesday shortly after 6 p.m. in the food court of the Fashion Show mall, an upscale shopping center frequented by tourists, according to Reddon.

Police believe the victim was shot in the neck or upper torso but that it was a superficial wound, Reddon said. Police have alerted local hospitals to be on the lookout for the alleged victim, he said.

An average-size crowd was at the shopping center when the fight began between the two men in their 20s or 30s, Reddon said. He added that police believe the altercation was gang-related.

Police are reviewing surveillance tapes for more information, according to Reddon.

The Fashion Show is on Las Vegas Boulevard, he said. "We very seldom have a problem down there."

Mall staffers could not be reached Tuesday evening.
