An alleged burglar climbed a tree Saturday. / KGW-TV

ALOHA, Ore. - An alleged burglar fell about 40 feet from a tree after fleeing a home here Saturday afternoon.

A homeowner called police after he said he found a man in the middle of a burglary, standing in his shower.

The homeowner said he fought the suspect, later identified as 46-year-old Bret Davis, and then Davis took off running, according to Sgt. Vance Stimler of the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The homeowner said Davis had taken energy drinks and alcohol from his home, and police think he may have been under the influence of other substances.

Officers and a K-9 tracked down Davis and found him about 40 feet up a tree. Davis refused to come down from the tree, instead climbing higher until he eventually fell out of the tree after about 30 minutes, Stimler said.

Davis was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was later booked in the Washington County Jail on burglary, robbery, assault and theft charges.
