A bear cub that got its head stuck in an oversized cookie jar. / AP

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? Evidence overwhelmingly points to the bear cub.

In New Jersey, a 6-month-old bear got its head stuck in a discarded animal crackers jar after trying to eat whatever was left inside, the AP reports. It had been rummaging through trash in Ringwood, about 40 miles northwest of New York City.

What's worse? The cub became scared when approached, climbed a tree and got stuck about 40 feet up there.

Thankfully, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection staffers rescued the poor 28-pound animal Friday night, according to AP.

A biologist sedated the animal. It was brought down from the tree. And firefighters cut the jar off its head.
