Alfred I. Rutherford, 55 / Provided
CINCINNATI - Police said a father shot his 29-year-old-daughter and another man in his home early Wednesday while the woman's son was having a sleepover with friends.
Lacey L. Rutherford, who lived in the home with her father, was found shot to death when police arrived at 2:24 a.m.
During the search of the home by officers, a second victim, a male whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was also found dead of a gunshot wound.
Hamilton detectives are investigating the shooting as a double homicide.
Police took Alfred I. Rutherford, 55, into custody about 11 a.m., after receiving a tip that led them to a local park.
Rutherford left the home in a Ford Escort after the shooting and was sought by police all morning. He was not armed and did not struggle when he was arrested, police said.
The Escort was found just after noon less than a mile from the scene.
Police were initially called to the house when Rutherford's wife called 911 and said her daughter was shot and killed by Rutherford, Hamilton Police Chief Scott Scrimizzi said.
When officers arrived to shooting scene they found a full house. "It was a horrible situation. The victim's son was inside," Scrimizzi said.
Officers did not realize a second person was shot until they got to the house. The second body was found in back of house.
Police said there were several children at the home at the time of the shooting - Lacey Rutherford's children and others there for a sleepover.
Scrimizzi said Lacey Rutherford's son saw her get shot.
Neighbors said two young boys lived in the home. Police said they can't say where the children are, but did say that they are safe.
Officials were seen removing at least seven rifles and handguns from the home Wednesday morning.
